LOTERIA D'AMOR

“Are you looking to get lucky in love … or just lucky?” is what contestants will be asked as they enter the Palace of Wonders for Loteria de Amor! If they say they’re “game” then they may end up winning a date prize and being fixed up with another audience member. There will be other prizes for those not on the “mercado” for amor.
Loteria is the Mexican version of bingo and instead of being played with letters and numbers it’s played with pictures. For Loteria de Amor we’ve asked 54 celbutantes from the DC/Baltimore art world to either do their take on a traditional Loteria image or to come up with an image of their own invention. Among the local artists contributing images are: Tim Tate (el Corazon), Victoria F. Gaitán (la Sirena) and Philippa Hughes (la Surfista).
In between games, the Metro area’s biggest burlesque and vaudeville stars will perform acts based on the Loteria images.
The evening is co-hostessed by burlesque sass server Shortstaxx and alt. drag performer Lucrezia Blozia who will be joined by friends Lucha Liberace, the Conquistador of the Keys and Ramon, the talking Chihuahua.
Loteria de Amor's second ever show will be Wednesday, August 11th at the Palace of Wonders, DC’s only burlesque hall/oddity museum. The Palace is located at 1210 H St., N.E.. Doors at 6:00 PM, pre-Show with Lucha Liberace 8:30 PM, Show 9:00 PM. Admission is $10.

In January, Battle of the Burlesque Stars made its Palace of Wonders
debut to a packed, screaming crowd and a night of amazing, sexy and
hilarious contests: the audience wanted more and now its time for the
rematch! Teams of performers representing two of burlesque's biggest networks are pitted against each other in bump 'n' grind challenges: Who will reign supreme?
From the New York Network, team captain Clams Casino brings the curvaceous glamour of Jezebel Express to the field.
They face off against the Washington DC Network: team captain L'il Dutch is ready to shake things up: her teammate is Creamy Stevens, DC native--and NYC burlesque legend! These performers will try to out-twirl, out-shimmy and out-shock each other--and you'll have a
front row seat!
Join your team of commentators, NYC's Neil O'Fortune and DC's Kittie Glitter, for all the action.
Battle of the Burlesque Stars evokes the classic T'n'A lunacy of television's 1970s cult classic Battle of the Network Stars, which
involved teams of TV actors from all three networks in physical challenges often centered around starlets getting wet in translucent
swimsuits and lots of slow-motion running. The tongue-in-cheek challenges onstage at the Palace of Wonders will include some based on the classic striptease elements, and some in more…unusual categories as well. The first Battle of the Burlesque Stars ended with a now-legendary tassle-twirling contest, and it just might happen again.
